The menu supports an active and healthy lifestyle, not to mention the perfect fit for LA’s time-pressed professionals. There is a section of healthy made-to-order cold items as well as hot items that are “grab and go.”

Every Thursday between seeing patients regarding nutrition at my office, I treat myself to a delicious healthy lunch at Greenleaf Chopshop. I haven’t had the pleasure of trying everything on the menu quite yet, but I can honestly tell you that I know I will LOVE everything just by looking at all of the healthy, fresh, organic ingredients. After this, I usually walk to the Century City farmer’s market and sample some of the delicious fresh fruits and vegetables in season and stock up on the ones I am lacking in my fridge at home.

Eating healthy and exercising seems to be worked into my DNA somehow because I enjoy it, but it was not always that way. I grew up as a little girl eating donuts and wanting to “grow up and own a donut shop one day.” YIKES! It’s funny how I made a 360 degree change from that and replaced donuts with fresh fruits and vegetables daily. My interest in nutrition kicked in as my passion for sports grew stronger. This is where Nutrition For Body and Mind plays a role.

My point is that it is all about the choices you make on a daily basis. I don’t believe in “diets” and you don’t have to be on an strict eating regimen all day, everyday. It is more about the BALANCE of eating healthy foods and making the right choices when they are presented to you to incorporate the right foods and beverages to nourish your body. You really can’t go wrong at Greenleaf, because all of their menu options offer a healthy bite. I give it the “Courtney stamp of health approval!”

My favorite breakfast option is the “protein wrap”—egg whites, grilled chicken, turkey bacon, red onion marmalade, and baby spinach wrapped in a whole-wheat tortilla and served with a side of fat free cottage cheese and apple compote. This is a great way to get a protein kick in the morning, keep you focused and curb your appetite for your next meal.

Here is a picture of my favorite lunch option: ½ panini with soup combo—the grilled chicken panini with avocado pesto on foccacia with tomato basil soup. I like to dip the edges of my sandwich in the soup for an added zing! It’s warm, 100% satisfying and gives you energy to finish off your workday!
