Kinetic Cycling

I went to a spin class Sunday morning in Brentwood, CA—Kinetic Cycling… and it BLEW ME AWAY! I’ve been to many spin classes before, but this one was different! Kinetic’s #1 mantra is “Change your mind, change your body, change your life!”

Let me tell you…it changed mine! What I like the best are the state of the art bikes (Keiser M3 indoor cycle) that generate electricity for the city’s power grid, creating a green business to save money and help conserve the environment.

The 55” flat screen TV hangs above the instructor’s head featuring beautiful outdoor scenery– the wilderness, mountains, ocean, etc which always make you want to peddle faster! The purple and blue LAD lights that hang from the ceiling simulate a “different atmosphere and mood.”

Kinetic’s motivational cycling instructors encourage you to push harder and faster to maximize your ride based on inspiration to the athlete (of all ages and levels of fitness). They state, “Any limits you think you have, you made up!” I like this motivational mantra because it’s true! With the proper nutrition, the right training and a positive mindset, your speed in that spin class should be limitless!

Your question should not be, “Why… it should be Why not?” The physical benefits of this cardiovascular and resistance training (when you put the bike up above a level 8 or 10 resistance) include weight loss (fat loss and lean body mass gain), increased energy, stronger heart and lungs, decreased risk of heart disease, increased bone density, better sleep, and likely improved cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

The mental and emotional benefits include relief from stress and anxiety (we all need that after a long work day!), easing symptoms of depression, increased confidence, and improved mental acuity. When you are in a better mental state, you will be more efficient and effective in your work.
