Lululemon Athletica

Have you heard of the cutting edge athletic store; Lululemon?! If you haven’t yet, you’re missing out and now’s the time to get involved! The company originated in Vancouver, BC in 1998 but is now all over the United States. Their workout clothes are extremely comfortable (something I’d even wear to sleep in), look great on nearly all body types, and are fashionable (so yes, you can go run errands, go to store or mall, etc. after your exercise and not look like a grunge… haha).

I am a HUGE fan of the store and their motto! I love the positive energy they give off about life and exercise and their involvement in the community and health initiatives. The Santa Monica, CA location is the first lululemon athletica store in the United States and the Mecca for Yoga.

If you’re looking for a running buddy or group, then you’ll love Lululemon’s RUN CLUB.

I went to the run club in Santa Monica recently and everyone was so welcoming and encouraging! Some people were “casual runners” who run sporadically, while others were training for ½ or full marathons! No matter your run speed, there is always someone who will go at your pace. I found it refreshing to run with a buddy and catch about life, and before we knew it, we had completed ~3.5 miles in what seemed like 5 minutes—and it was fun! That was how it used to be when I ran Varsity Cross Country and Track in high school. I was always running with someone and time seemed to go by so quickly. Exercise is still FUN, it’s just better to have an exercise buddy that shares common interests with you. It is nice not to THINK about your workout, and JUST DO IT… before you know it, you will be reaping the benefits of high endorphins (runner’s high) and feeling more energized.

Run Club is on Saturday mornings 9:30-10:30 am in Santa Monica. Lululemon also offers free yoga in the store on Sundays from 10-11 am. Running and yoga are a great way to clear your mind and keep your muscles flexible (release the knots and tension you may have been carrying due to a stressful work week). It is important to exercise the body and the mind.

Lululemon is known for their inspiring phrases. I have a stainless steel water bottle that includes about 25 different sayings, which is fun because I focus on a new one each time I go to workout. A few of my favorite Lululemon phrases are:

  • “Sweat Once A day to regenerate your skin.”
  • “Life is full of setbacks. Success is determined by how you handle setbacks.”
  • “The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time. Choose a positive thought.”
  • “Dance, sing, floss and travel.”
  • “Breathe deeply and appreciate the moment. Living in the moment could be the meaning of life.”
  • “Successful people replace the words ‘wish,’ ‘should,’ and ‘try’ with ‘I WILL.”

Working out and sweating is a way to flush any toxins out of your body and refuel with proper nutrition and hydration, which are both key in maintaining a positive energy balance.

I am pleased to be presenting and hosted in the Lululemon Santa Monica store as “nutrition month” every Sunday before and after Yoga for the next 4 weeks. So, come on down, release the tension in your muscles, tone your body and learn about healthy nutrition tips.
