Courtney Sullivan

I am passionate about helping others!

Courtney Sullivan is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (certified through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) and Certified Personal Trainer (certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine).

 

Courtney is passionate about helping her clients reach optimal health through the delicate balance of nutrition and exercise. No matter what degree of change you seek, Nutrition for Body and Mind has a program for you!

 

Her private practice is focused on lifestyle behavior modifications, fitness, wellness, sports nutrition tactics, supplementation protocols, hydration needs and customized nutrition plans to accomplish your health goals and address nutrition related disease specific concerns and food allergies.

 

She emphasizes pre and post workout nutrition, portion control, timing of meals, nutrition facts label reading, dining out strategies, travel nutrition, personalized macronutrient needs and gives you the tools to enable you to have a healthy relationship with food to nourish your body the right way!

 

Nutrition for Body and Mind does not suggest dieting, but more so coming into an intuitive eating, whole food based approach that will give you long lasting energy and help meet your weight goals.

 

Courtney’s experiences range from implementing corporate and employee wellness programs through Active at Disney to analyzing health product nutrition facts for companies like KIND Healthy Grains.

 

Courtney’s rich expertise in nutrition is grounded in her early work as a clinical Dietitian in an acute care hospital setting. In her six years working as a clinical dietitian, she also taught a monthly diabetes support group to active members in the community. She has experience working hand in hand with a Board Certified Gastroenterologist helping her clients in all realms of digestive disorders, weight loss and/or lean muscle gain and sports nutrition. She worked with a Board Certified Neurologist and created a weight loss program with a holistic approach.

Courtney graduated Cum Laude, with a Major in Nutritional Science and a Minor in Chemistry from the University of Arizona.

 

She was involved in the UA Obesity Research Study and was a preceptor for UA courses including Nutrition, Food and You and Nutrition in Health and Disease.

 

She was a member and secretary of the UA Nutritional Science Club. Courtney successfully completed her Dietetic Internship at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. She is currently an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, SCAN (Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionist Dietetic Practice) group, Sports Dietetics-USA and Nutrition Entrepreneurs (NE).

Courtney was selected and highlighted in an interview with SD Voyager and Canvas Rebel which described her story in becoming a Registered Dietitian and creating her own private practice. She has written for National Academy of Sports Medicine the Training EDGE Magazine, and was featured as the cover model of the summer edition 2013.

Courtney has expanded her services to bring a well-rounded knowledge base and personalized approach to her personal training sector. She has presented on sports nutrition and preventative health for organizations including LA Ballet Company, National Charity League, MAC UCLA rowing team, and Lululemon

 

Courtney has been involved in sports her entire life and coins running as her “vice.” She was selected to be a part of Team Nutribullet, and train for the LA marathon Stadium to Sea. She successfully completed her first marathon in March 2015 with a time of 3:47 (top 3% overall for females). She is active in the community with Fit4Mom San Diego and Stroller Strides/Body Back (San Diego/San Elijo Hills). She has a 3 kids including a daughter and identical twin boys who keep her busy! 

 

Her preference for fast-paced environments has been the catalyst from which she has developed her strongest attributes: initiative, integrity, tenacity, enthusiasm, motivation and eagerness to face new challenges.
